A fast-growing private owned company with a highly motivated workforce, we now have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Tool Maker/Setter/Operator who can look to enjoy a long term and progressive career within the group.

 

Our newly created Manufacturing Facility truly has a clinical feeling inside, the right candidate will be working with a mixture of new Haas 3 and 4 Axis Milling Machines, 4 Axis Milling as well as a 5 Axis Mill/Turn Mazak with Mazatrol controllers in addition to two Fanuc/Haas controlled lathes with live tooling. There is also commitment for future investment to include further machines and a new purpose-built facility just outside of Hinckley.

 

This newly created role entails a variety of responsibilities, so it is essential that candidates have proven experience of setting and operating CNC machines, measuring own work and most importantly the ability to create work holdings. As an individual you must be a great communicator, positive, organised, and proactive. You will be passionate and a true team player, working with the Programmer and the General Manager together with the Machine Operatives, to deliver industry leading quality products. Experience of working in a fast-paced environment is key.

 

Key Criteria:

  • Minimum experience of five years working within a manufacturing / engineering environment.

  • Experience of fixture design and manufacturing to suit associated product programmes and machines.

  • Fluent with CNC machine operation and conventional machine tools. 

  • Experience of machining precision prismatic and turned components.

  • Able to read and fully interpret detailed engineering drawings.

  • Ability to operate and understand CMM machine and other measuring equipment.

  • Exceptional organisation skills with the ability to adapt in a changing environment that accompanies small batch production.

 

Desirable requirements however not essential depending upon experience:

  • Level 4, City & Guilds or equivalent in Engineering

  • Forklift Licence

  • Understanding and experience working with in ISO standards.

  • Experience as a section / team leader

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Programmer with the production of work holdings, jigs and fixtures as well as machine setting.

  • Ensure quality control processes are being adhered to including spot checks of other operators work.

  • First and final sign off checks for each production batch.

  • Manage the workflow and provide production plans to maximise the efficiency of the workshop resources.

  • Monitor and ensure the correct stock and associated tooling is made available for each job card.

  • Operate machines to support manufacturing.

Key Criteria:

  • Minimum experience of five years working within a manufacturing / engineering environment.

  • Proven experience of 3D programming techniques, 3D CAD / CAM essential.

  • Experience of fixture and jig design to suit associated programmes and machines.

  • Fluent with CNC machine operation and conventional machine tools. 

  • Experience of machining precision prismatic and turned components.

  • Able to read and fully interpret detailed engineering drawings.

  • Working to ISO standards.

  • Exceptional organisation skills.

  • Computer Literate – SAP and basic word & Excel.

  • ONC / HNC / City & Guilds or equivalent in Engineering (preferred but not essential depending on previous experience).

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Generate programmes for existing and new product designs, for input to a range of machines.

  • Design and aid in the production of sub-assemblies such as Jigs and fixtures.

  • Provide feedback to CAD engineers.

  • Look to improve efficiency and streamline processes. 

  • Working closely with both purchasing and sales, assisting in the allocation of appropriate timescales and costs connected to production.

  • Keep records and regular quality / stock checks of machine tools, fixtures and jigs.
